What Biographical Information Should I Include in My eBook?

Mitch Woodhead

One of the best ways to improve your eBook sales and develop a loyal readership is to include a section in your eBook that’s all about you. Many readers enjoy getting to know about the author of the books they read, and your popularity as an author can certainly help improve the popularity (and, in turn, the sales) of your next book. One of the great things about being an eBook author is that the biographical section of your eBook can be more interactive than that of a print book, because you can include calls to action and links for which a print book simply can’t enjoy the same kind of engagement. We suggest including the following: A Detailed Biography The most important part of your biographical section is that which you share about you as a professional and as a person. You can use this section to establish your credibility as an expert in the topic on which your eBook is written as well as provide some personal details about yourself that generates reader interest in you. Links to External Sources Your biographical page should include links to your blog and website. Most people, whether they are reading your eBook via a tablet or an e-Reader, have access to the Internet from the device that they are using. This allows you to have live links in your eBook with which readers can navigate to those sites. Other external links you may want to add include are those that invite people to complete a survey or send you suggestions, invite people to view your YouTube interviews or invite readers to see your other lists. Calls to Action Your biographical section is an excellent opportunity for you to create and build interaction with your readers, whether you’re trying to gather support for a cause, encourage them to spread the word about your eBook or otherwise want them to engage with you. Simply asking them to tweet or share to Facebook the link for your eBook can help you gain a larger audience. What else do you think should be included in your author bio? Share your ideas on Facebook!
